The Czech National Institute of Health published some practical pieces of advice for the hot summer weather on its website. In three booklets (written in Czech), the institute informs about how to moderate the effects of extreme heat on the human body, how to observe fluid intake and what to be careful about when drinking water from the so called water coolers.

The first booklet entitled How to mitigate the effects of extreme heat warns that hot weather can cause health problems to everyone. It advises how to customize the daily schedule and pace of work, how to behave in buildings and outside or what to eat and drink. It also describes how to recognize the signs of overheating and how to provide first aid.

The second booklet entitled Drinking regime answers important questions such as: Why to drink? How much to drink? What drinks are suitable and unsuitable in the summer heat? It notes that it is necessary to drink throughout the whole day because a man is not a camel for whom it is enough to drink once a day to make a stock of water. You can also read how to differentiate between bottled waters and which ones are suitable for summer days.

The third booklet called Do you drink water from a watter cooler? deals with devices for tapping drinking water from big plastic bottles or barrels for which even the Czech language uses the English term "water coolers". The water in water coolers can be cooled, heated or tapped at room temperature. You can read when to buy such a device, how to assess the quality of water in it and further guidelines for its location, operation and sanitation.
