Good recruitment requires instinct

The smaller the company, the more important is it to recruit the right people. Inc.com therefore warns about the most common causes of poor recruitment in small companies and offers recommendations on how to remove them.

1. You are interested only in skills

Technical skills can be taught, it is however almost impossible with enthusiasm or work ethics. Besides skills, therefore, choose workers based on their approach to work and people.

2. You  hire family members of current employees

Trying to help the families of your employees may not always coincide with your needs. In addition, it would enhance the risk of interpersonal conflicts and boost a feeling of favoring certain employees. Develop, therefore, a formal aproach for hiring family members and do not place them in the same departments.

3. You sell jobs to candidates instead of letting candidates to sell themselves

A good candidate should know your business and prepare for the interview. Talk about the open position, fundamentals of your business and answer questions. There is no need to sell. You probably want people who will want to work for you, not those who are easily convinced.

4. Your do not rely on your instinct

Formal recruitment process is important to select the right people but intuition is important, too. If a candidate does not make a good impression on you despite his qualifications, check him out more preciselly. Check references and focus on how he acted, for example, while waiting for the interview.

5, You think that you can change the unchangeable

Some people can work and act with others in a way that you do not accept. Do not rely on a hope that you can change it. Well consider whether you are willing to accept such workers with all their properties in advance.
