Do you want your HR department to become a real strategic partner in the company in 2016? Then stop making excuses, improve cooperation with other departments and learn to analyse data. That is the recommendation just released by the British HR Magazine website. The author of the following inspiring advice, in the form of ten commandments on how to improve the reputation of HR in your company, is Nabila Aydin - VP of global marketing and North America HR operations at the international IT company FDM Group.

1. Ensure that everyone in the company knows what you do and what results you achieve.

2. Improve the quality and increase the frequency of communication with all of your internal customers.

3. Stop making excuses for having not enough time, money or people and start coming up with practical solutions.

4. Stop only offering support to other departments. Start coming up with your own new initiatives you will not only promote, but also fully implement.

5. Search for ways to ensure that corporate values are not just a list of words written on paper, but the real basis of a corporate culture everybody follows.

6. Make sure that only the right people are promoted to the roles of managers and support them with regular training.

7. Collaborate with other departments and learn from them as much as you can. Start with sales, marketing and finance.

8. Consider which rules are really important and which are nonsense. Be flexible and don't be afraid to get rid of policies that only hurt employees.

9. Build your reputation as a department that listens and offers help, rather than causes delays and frustrates employees.

10. Learn how to use data and analytical tools so that you can measure the results of your activities.
