Working from home is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. Anyone who imagines spending days in sweatpants on the couch and doing laundry at the same time without any impact on his work performance will soon discover that it is not so simple. Working from home is not for everyone, it requires a high degree of organization and discipline. Ten assumptions of productive work from home were summed up on the U.S. News site.

  1. Be disciplined. Concentrate on your work and don't let anything distract you.

  2. Set working hours and follow them. This will help you both to work and relax.

  3. Create daily to do lists. If you tend to postpone your work, rather schedule your tasks for every hour.

  4. Teach your friends and family when not to disturb you.

  5. Agree on a system of communication with your supervisor and follow it.

  6. Be available to your colleagues on the phone, e-mail or instant messaging tools.

  7. Don't underestimate communication. Regularly inform about the status of your projects and priorities for the future. Respond to e-mails and phone calls.

  8. Do not eat at work. Some people have a tendency to overeat at home since the refrigerator is just a few steps away from their desk.

  9. Insulate the home, find a personal contact. For example, go to lunch with colleagues, friends and new contacts.

  10. Honestly evaluate whether working from home is the right choice for you. It may turn out that it is not good for you.
