Leadership development is not a matter of any big innovation, it is about the good old work with people. The following basic principles of leadership development were published by the American Chief Learning Officer magazine.

1. Keep in mind that every leader will leave

Your primary task is to maintain specific leaders at all costs, but to prepare individual development plans for the best employees with a leadership potential and succession management plans for the company.

2. Start with recruiting

Focus on whether your newly hired employees have the potential for future growth and for holding a leadership role. You need the right people in the right roles who will also be prepared to take a higher role if necessary.

3. Search for leadership potential

Significant attention should be paid to the starting point - personality profiles on the basis of which you will examine the potential and limitations of individual employees. Then you need to find a way to measure performance and link the personality profiles specific opportunities regarding where your current and future leaders can move further.
