LinkedIn introduces a new algorithm for recommending potential employees

Professional social network LinkedIn announced changes in its application for recruiters called Recruiter. In addition to a new graphic design, Recruiter includes a new algorithm for finding potential employees among more than 200 million users worldwide. This algorithm should simplify sorting of candidates for vacant positions by recommending recruiters appropriate candidates and showing their profiles in a new section called "People You May Want to Hire". The section will be visible only to the paying users of the application who currently include more than 16,000 companies.

Forbes.com quoted Parker Barrile, LinkedIn Product Manager responsible for the Recruiter application, who explained the functioning of the algorithm using the example of the IT specialists labor market in the USA. By analyzing user data, LinkedIn knows that these specialists migrate primarily between New York and San Francisco. Companies looking for IT specialists in San Francisco will, therefore, be showed specialists from New York (and not from other cities where IT specialists usually don't come from). Recommending of the  "People You May Want to Hire" will work in the same way even among different countries.

"People You May Want to Hire" follows the same principle as the existing LinkedIn functionalities called "People You May Know" and "Jobs You May Be Interested In". Parker Barrile sees the major benefit of LinkedIn for recruiters in the fact that they no longer have to search for suitable candidates themselves and manually. LinkedIn algorithms have already automated a half of this activity.
