Part-time jobs in the Czech Republic still lagging

"Part-time jobs are in," writes Finance.cz. The server presents the latest statistics on part-time work in the European Union and also explains why to support part-time jobs.

On average, 32 percent of women and 8 percent of men work part-time in the EU. Over the past ten years, the number increased of 3 percent of women and 2% of men. Most of them are young people and older workers in Western Europe working in the education sector, health and social services.

Most women work part-time in the Netherlands (75.8%), Germany (45.3%) and Austria (42.9%), most men in the Netherlands (24.9%), Denmark (15.3%) and Sweden (14.3%). In the Czech Republic, the number of people working part-time is the fourth lowest in the EU (2.8% men and 9.2% women).

The most compelling reason for promoting part-time jobs is the fact that they increas employment in a country. It is also a way to engage employees to work at an older age, which is a very current need due to the demographic development.

"By part-time jobs, employers can better optimize the performance of the company during  yearly fluctuations in production or supply. In addition, offering part-time jobs helps to gain more loyal employees. Part -time jobs are also the solution for young mothers to manage both their career and motherhood," writes Finance.cz.
